Description
Sustainable Energy First are looking to grow its Renewables Team by recruiting a Renewable Energy Analyst. You will have responsibility for ensuring Sustainable Energy First delivers market leading research and quantitative analysis that supports innovative product and service delivery which ensures our customers have access to sustainable and cost effective renewable energy solutions. Your role will fall into two primary categories:
- Lead the team’s market analytics & research. This involves carrying out qualitative and quantitative assessment/financial modelling of CPPAs & wider renewable energy projects, generation and consumption matching profiling, preparing reports that guide decision-making, playing the role of expert in client meetings and providing internal MI.
- Use your knowledge of the market and our client base to identify new opportunities for revenue generation, product innovation & improved service delivery. This will require working closely with Service Development & Sales departments as well as Procurement and Suppliers.
The role
- Data Analysis:
- Analysing energy production, consumption, and financial data related to renewable projects.
- Monitoring and evaluating project performance metrics.
- Financial modelling related to renewable energy projects such as analysis of CPPA projects vs market metrics/forward curves, summarising outputs and conclusions into Executive Reports to support client decisions.
- Evaluating the performance and potential of renewable energy investments/hedging strategies.
- Analytical modelling of HH generation and consumption matching to support Non-Commodity Relief value propositions.
- Market Research:
- Conducting research on trends in the renewable energy market (e.g. policies, regulatory framework, technologies, competitors).
- Staying updated on government regulations, incentives, and industry developments.
- To assist in analysing market trends to support innovative development of products & services related to renewable energy commodities & derivatives origination.
- Report Preparation:
- Preparing reports, presentations, and summaries for senior management or clients.
- Tracking the performance of the Sustainable Energy Consortium including assessment of generation output and allocation to customer/consortium positions, REGOs generated & annual benefit statements.
- Supporting in the preparation of proposals for new projects.
- Development & maintenance of MI for reporting into the Board.
- Project Support:
- Assisting in project development processes, from feasibility studies to project execution.
- Working alongside the Commercial teams to ensure the profitability of the Renewables Team during new tenders and at client renewals.
- Co-ordinate meetings and workshops, capturing key outputs and ensuring follow up on stakeholder delivery.
- Coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders, such as government agencies, investors or developers.
- Technical Analysis:
- Reviewing technical specifications, performance, and efficiency of renewable energy systems.
- Helping with simulations and modelling for renewable energy systems performance.
Our ideal candidate
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data and perform quantitative analysis.
- Financial Acumen: Basic understanding of financial metrics, modelling, and renewable energy economics.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of renewable energy technologies (solar, wind, etc.).
- Software Proficiency: Skills in Excel, financial modelling software, coding/programming language such as Python (or desire to learn).
- Communication: Ability to prepare reports, present findings, and collaborate effectively with teams.
This position is ideal for someone who has a passion for renewable energy, enjoys working with data, and wants to develop expertise in energy markets and project analysis.
